Revert back to redirect[edit]

I'm not sure if this person is eligible for a Wikipedia page. WP:NPOL states that local officials and being candidates for a political office aren't guaranteed to be notable, and Jawando is currently both. Therefore, I've reverted this page back to being a redirect. If this person is notable, I've written a page for them in my sandbox that fixes the issues with the page that was previously written for this person. Y2hyaXM (talk) 14:29, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Hotpotato1234567890 Saw the edit you made on the 2024 United States Senate election in Maryland page and just wanted to let you know that a page did briefly exist for Jawando (created by the user who added the wikilink) but I've since reverted it for not being notable enough to have a page. Not notable today. He may be one day. --evrik (talk) 22:29, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

General Notability[edit]

Passes general notability, so that political notability is not considered. Robert McClenon (talk) 05:25, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This might not be the right place for this question/comment. The grammar and tense on this section does not seem to be correct, suggesting the Democratic Primary has already concluded. Additionally, while I would personally agree that candidacy is a long-shot, this sentence should probably be re-worked:
"During the Democratic primary, he sought to position himself as a progressive, citing his record on the Montgomery County Council, but was viewed as a long-shot candidate behind frontrunners Angela Alsobrooks and David Trone." 2601:152:980:FF0:FC12:532C:8A3A:2862 (talk) 18:44, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've reworded it slightly. I don't agree that it's phrased as if the primary has concluded, though. Y2hyaXM (talk) 22:58, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Acceptance Note[edit]

This individual does not pass political notability but passes general notability. Robert McClenon (talk) 05:25, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Councilor?[edit]

Is councilor really the right word to describe his office? FWIW it's not one I've heard before. It turns up in Google searches much less often than council member or councilmember, the two of which are in the headlines of four of this article's cited sources as opposed to zero for councilor. Council member is also used on the county's website as listed in the external links. -- Pemilligan (talk) 01:07, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I just used the word councilor because that's what was used on the 2024 United States Senate election in Maryland page. If you'd like to change it to either of those, I have no objections. Y2hyaXM (talk) 01:12, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake[edit]

My apologies, I was trying to correct a few pieces of information (DOB, marriage, etc.) and add in some additional info and it looks like the header for the 2024 Senate subsection got messed up. I tried to fix but it didn't work. Is someone else able to fix? Maryland 10000 (talk) 12:44, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also - he was the Associate Director of the Office of Public Affairs in the Obama White House. Can that please be added under his headshot and dates for his time on the Council?

Not really sure that's a significant enough role to include there. I could only find this role on two other pages: Kal Penn and Jarrod Bernstein. Another individual, Brad Jenkins, also served in this role and doesn't have it in their infobox. Y2hyaXM (talk) 15:14, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind - I fixed the formatting issue. But my note on the WH job stands. Maryland 10000 (talk) 12:59, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
