Is Ian Moor really notable? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.195.210.23 (talk) 01:01, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He currently has an article so meets our notability criteria. Keith D (talk) 10:57, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Governance + other stuff[edit]

I didn't try to complete this section as the history is complicated - with bits of the township of willerby in different parishes at different times.

The development of the shops and offices and other non-housing stuff to the west of the village centre needs more sources.

I ignored Albion Mill - though it is very neat it is outside the current parish boundary.Oranjblud (talk) 20:48, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also a date (and reference) for the construction of the Star Inn would be helpful - it is before 1890 I think - unless it is a rebuild..Oranjblud (talk) 02:35, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Great work on this one. I have juggled the sections per WP settlements. It might be worth a look at WP:ITALIC per the History sec - italics are for for creative works, ships, and emphasis of salient words and phrases - but emphasis is rarely, if ever, needed for buildings or companies. Best place to live[edit]

quote::In 2014 the Royal Mail ranked the HU10 postcode area, of which Willerby is an integral part, as the most desirable place to live in Yorkshire. The area was ranked overall as the 24th most desirable place to live in the UK based on employment opportunities, quality of life, health and education and crime rates.[1]

Generally we don't base encyclopedic content on a single report, of un-assertained reliability. I'm opne to "standard of living" information, but the sourcing needs to be better than this. The newpaper reports quotes a report (no link given), and then goes onto quote a local butcher. This is great for quiet news day, but we need a little more. Generally pushing a bunch of data into a spreadsheet won't and getting a list out won't be enough. Where any people actually interviewed etc for the survey? etc

Here's another report from the same newpaper that shows Willerby only average. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Map-best-places-live-shows-huge-contrasts-East/story-22796144-detail/story.html from http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/11043028/Mapped-the-best-places-to-live.html Prof.Haddock (talk) 04:26, 9 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I tend to agree with you here Prof. - you are tougher on this sort of stuff than me - nothing wrong with that - let's see if there are further but reliable and historical sources before any adding back, and presented on this Talk page first. Acabashi (talk) 13:28, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Local opinion/knowledge - the area is a fairly well off suburb - some houses are fairly large - I would expect the demographics to be above average generally. In a local context (Hull) I could name half a dozen other areas with similar demographics/facilities. The first Hull Daily Mail report seems to be a statistical blip, whilst the second link I quoted shows a blip around The Garden Village, Kingston upon Hull (that seems exaggerated too). Possibly the census data (links in the article) would cover something like this but it isn't really my thing.
There's a good shopping center on the outskirts, plus it's near but not blighted by a major A road - I guess this is why the PO statistics got skewed. If it includes the very wealthy West Ella that would be a factor - but I don't fully understand how the first report calculated its conclusion - Prof.Haddock (talk) 16:51, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
