Difference with National Governors Assn. page[edit]

This page from the National Governors Association gives very different birth and death dates, and says he was chief justice of Virginia after he would be dead by these dates. What is correct? Rigadoun (talk) 19:36, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article is correct. The National Governors' page makes the common error of confusing Virginia's two prominent William Flemings of the era -- the other is Judge William Fleming, who never served as governor. I'll make a note of it in the article. —Kevin Myers 03:13, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(The National Governors' page has since been corrected.) —Kevin Myers 06:54, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

more work needed[edit]

Although I should have been handling other matters, I happened to notice some errors while in a library that had a small volume about this soldier and governor. I skimmed its beginning and end to flush out this article, and added some wikilinks. I don't have any time to check the family genealogy or describe his politics and contributions, much less find the bibliography citations. I write hoping others can fill in the obvious gaps.Jweaver28 (talk) 23:34, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hatnotes[edit]

I added {{distinguish|William Fleming (judge)}} to this article, and a similar hatnote for the judge.
