say that Isabella Ludlam (her first name is not given), the mother of Gerrard Andrewes (1750-1825), was William Ludlam's sister. This is not the case.

Nichols, John, The history and antiquities of the county of Leicester : Vol. 1, Part 2, 1815, p318 says that Dr Ludlam's (Richard, William's father) only daughter [Anne] was the second wife of Joseph Cradock (as stated in the ODNB). The ODNB entry for Joseph Cradock (1742-1826), says that Anne Ludlam, sister of mathematicians William and Thomas Ludlam, was his father's second wife. Playfair's axiom[edit]

According to Coxeter, Playfair copied "his" famous Playfair axiom from Ludlam. But there is nothing about that in this article. Here's my reference to Coxeter's famous book about this matter: 1942 '47 '57 '61 '65 1998 6e "Non-Euclidean Geometry" by H. S. M. Coxeter. Also see John Playfair and Playfair's axiom.
