Name of site: The National Historic Landmark listing is William Sydney Mount House, with middle name spelled with an extra Y, while New York Times articles list it as William Sidney Mount House.doncram 20:32, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not in Stony Brook on Route 25[edit]

FYI, the intersection this house is supposed to be on is in Centereach, New York, not Stony Brook. Stony Brook doesn't go as far south as New York State Route 25. ----DanTD (talk) 18:47, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: Okay, my mistake. It is in Stony Brook, but then again, that means it's located on New York State Route 25A, not New York State Route 25. Now it's "Gould Road" that has me perplexed. ----DanTD (talk) 22:55, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Strangely, the National Register nomination is internally inconsistent on the subject of the house's location. Section 2 (Location) says "State Route 25 and Gould Road", while the text in Section 7 (Description) says "The house is bounded on the south by Stony Brook Road, and on the west by County Route 25A." Section 8 (Significance) repeats the address in Section 2. Magic♪piano 19:05, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is it Sidney or Sydney?[edit]

We have a lot of inconsistencies here and elsewhere regarding the SPELLING of William S. Mount's middle name. If he spelled it both ways (as many early 19th century folks did), then so indicate! If -- on the other hand -- it is misspelled in the national register or in the school name, then so explain! Dr.Bastedo (talk) 03:27, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
