The William Wallace Anderson who graduated Penn in 1849 was the son of Dr. William Wallace Anderson, an 1810 graduate who moved to Stateboro SC, married Mary Jane McKenzie in 1818 and inherited the property known as the Borough House or Hillcrest. Dr Anderson Sr. was interested in architecture and oversaw the use of the Pise de Terre method to enlarge the home, build several outbuildings on the plantation, and suggest to the nearby congregation the construction of a new church building erected in that style. The junior W.W. Anderson was an army surgeon and Confederate officer. He was the brother of Richard Heron Anderson, a career officer in the Old Army and a lieutenant general and corps commander in the Confederate Army. 192.230.210.158 (talk) 17:59, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
