Untitled[edit]

Something's not right with this article. I think maybe her mother wrote it?

= Indeed it did. I edited out the proud-mother-type gush a couple of months back Plutonium27 16:53, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Puerto Rico not a country[edit]

The article claims she "became the first and to date only winner of the Miss World title from her country." Wouldn't that country be the United States? —xanderer 23:58, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the US.... therefore not a country. 173.66.169.88 (talk) 11:05, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Date Of Birth[edit]

Someone has reverted the removal of the 1959 date of birth and put it back up. Miss Merced could not possibly have been born in 1959 and won Miss World 1975. She would have been below minimum age for competition. Wiki: INV. Wikepedia is not vanity. Plutonium27 22:48, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you provide any reference that your assertion is true? For example, how do you know that 16 year-olds were not permitted to participate in 1975? --After Midnight 0001 04:37, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Undone the dob revert again. I'll try to find online citation re the age rules from the Mecca Organisation (the organisers of the 70's comp) though they are no longer extant so its gonna be hard going. I remember watching Miss World through out the 70's - including Miss Merced's win - and the rules were clearly pointed out to UK viewers. Meanwhile I'd strongly advise against trying to find any more 16 yr old competitors to support the arguement as they'll also be fraudulent re cited dobs. Please lets not get this into the Dumbest Edit War catagory. And please leave it be. Thanks Plutonium27 22:49, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
