Koenkamphuys's research

In his book Hit Songs, 1900-1955: American Popular Music of the Pre-Rock Era Don Tyler states Winfield Scott's year of birth as 1939, which does not match the last phrase in this article, that he died in 2015 at age 95.

I tend to believe that there have been two singers who have used the name of Robie or Roebie Kirk. One has recorded some songs in the mid-forties with Tab Smith for J. Mayo Williams independent record company, some appearing on his Harlem and Ebony labels, others were traded off to the King and 20th Century labels. In his 2008 interview for elvis.com he states that he started in the music business as a singer for the Cues. More footage on the Cues, but unfortunately not that much on Winfield, in page on the Cues of Marv Goldberg.
