Is "wireless" an euphemism for "radio"?

It seems that this article deals only with radio-based systems, even though many other wireless methods of communications exist, such as optical, including broadcasting IR (which was even a part or the 801.11 standard) and fiberoptical, or ultrasonic. Is it a defective terminology (like "horseless carriage"), or the article needs some expansion to at least mention these other variants? — Mikhail Ryazanov (talk) 00:32, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

This article is only about wireless lans, the parent article wireless networks at least mentions the other types of data links.
But yeah, you could expand it.GliderMaven (talk) 00:54, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
