List of WWE Divas[edit]

Should this page be made? A list of current and past WWE divas... Including info about their debut, release, and other stuff... —Preceding unsigned comment added by DivasR0CK (talkcontribs) 16:13, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Section: Current Divas[edit]

Should a list of the current WWE Divas be added to this page?, informing who the current WWE Divas are. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.216.96.20 (talk) 12:41, 23 July 2008 (UTC) i think so —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.104.135.231 (talk) 04:45, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think something similar to the WWE roster listing the divas, & any special notes: titles, roles, brand etc should be used. Or maybe since they are listed on the roster, why not make a Diva alumni section? List their titles/achievments, & the years they were active. Much larger & more informative. 24.24.231.104 (talk) 05:49, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy section?[edit]

Would it fall under Notability to add a section outlining the negative reaction of many pundits, fans and other promotions to the WWE Diva concept regarding sex appeal over wrestling talent? I'm thinking things like one of TNA's Knockout promos where one of them (I forget who) says, "We aren't Divas"; worked shoots from independent female wrestlers on current or former divas - I remember a specific occasion of April Hunter doing one on Christy Hemme and Lita; and the endless show recaps which effectively say "Divas' match = toilet break". Not saying I necessarily agree that WWE divas are talentless myself, but it is a common opinion among certain quarters of wrestling fans. Sordyne (talk) 17:50, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A criticism section would be nice. I feel a reception type section for most articles always helps.--WillC 18:37, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shortest WWE Women's Championship Match[edit]

The shortest Women's Championship match was between Nidia and Trish Stratus which went for about 3 seconds. Mickie and Michelle's match should be removed.

Orphaned references in WWE Diva[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of WWE Diva's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Vickie[edit]

no — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.52.255.161 (talk) 21:05, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Does Vickie count as a diva? She doesnt wrestle much, but has been a major part since joining Edge in 2007. She also won a slammy, & been GM of both brands several times, including currently running Raw for the third time. 24.24.231.104 (talk) 05:52, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

MANIA[edit]

No mention of WM not having diva match for the first time in several years? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.28.91.102 (talk) 08:53, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Continuous updates[edit]

Now that the term 'Diva' is no longer used, I think that now would be the perfect time to stop continuous updates to this article. If WWE is supposedly treating female wrestlers the same as male wrestlers now, then it would make little sense to continue to add to this article when Wikipedia has no male equivalent.

What I mean by now being the "perfect time" is that there could still be some context detailed for what state women's wrestling was left in immediately after the retirement of the term 'Diva'. The article could still make reference to the brand extension with Becky Lynch becoming the first WWE SmackDown Women's Champion, and there could still be a mention of Charlotte and Sasha Banks moving on to main event status. Playboy[edit]

Chyna is listed here as being in the 2000 & 2001 issues, yet on HER own page, & on the playboy page, she is said to be in the Nov2000 & Jan2002 issues. Which is it? One page is wrong. I've tried to change the the WWE Diva: Playboy subsection to match Chyna's page, but someone keeps changing it back. One of these pages is wrong. Also, not to nitpick, but her second appearance shouldnt count anyway since she left the WWF before it was printed. Same with Sable's second of three spreads. If you are going to include their pictorals from when they were NOT WWF/E Divas, then include Ashley Masaro, Maryse Mizanin, & Taryn Terrell. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.90.216.7 (talk) 07:57, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Championship Table[edit]

Hi, I feel these women deserve more than just an X mark when they hold more than one title. I think you should replace the X-Mark with the number of times they have held, to date, that specific title. Also, please add the blue WWE Women's Title of the Smackdown Brand.

Or make it the same as the Triple Crown/Grand Slam pages.

Thank you, Cobramorph 1/18/2017

WWE DivaWomen in WWE – We're quickly approaching the one year anniversary of WWE dropping "Diva" from their vernacular. This article covers women's wrestling all the way back to the Moolah days (even further with Mildred Burke linked in the article), long before the "Diva" term came into use. The new title is appropriate per WP:NAMECHANGES and better covers the actual scope of the article. LM2000 (talk) 10:50, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment As can be seen in the 'Continuous updates' section above on this talk page, this is something that I have taken a bit of an interest in. The point that I'd just like to make is that the WWE now makes no distinction between male and female wrestlers, in that they are all 'WWE Superstars'. As such, I'm not convinced of the need for a 'Women in WWE' Wikipedia article as they have no different status in WWE from their male counterparts. Why should there be special status for female wrestlers on Wikipedia? I can't quite fathom that at the moment, and I would need to be convinced.
Technically speaking, I could find a 'WWE Diva' article acceptable if it relates specifically to its use as a term in wrestling. Therefore, it would be a terminology article. Again, I'm not convinced of the need to go through the entire history of various storylines stretching back decades all on one article. Eventually it could get very long. Then what?
I'm not saying that I particularly oppose the proposed move. Instead, I'd just appreciate it if someone could reaffirm to me what this article is actually supposed to be for, and then for a decision to be made on whether or not that is appropriate. RedvBlue 23:12, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I suppose we need to have a discussion on just what this article is suppose to be about. If the article was about the term "Diva" then I would oppose moving the article. I don't necessarily agree that we don't need an article on the history of WWE ladies wrestlers but I'm not sure if that's what the scope of this article should be. If we retarget this article to be about the term then it would need a major facelift, right now "Women in WWE" better title for this version of the article. I'll get members of the wikiproject to chime in on this.LM2000 (talk) 23:46, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for your suggestions. As I say, however, I remain to be convinced about having an article that forever details the developments of women's wrestling in WWE. You've only said that you "don't necessarily agree" with me about that.
However, you do say that in relation to "the history of WWE ladies wrestlers". The key word there is "history". By using words such as diva for the female wrestlers, WWE has indeed treated its women differently in the past. As such, there may then be some basis for an article about the history of women's wrestling in WWE before the company started giving the same status to both genders.
This, then, brings men full circle, and back to my 'Continuous updates' section above. Up there, I put forward a way of bringing this article to something of a natural conclusion.
I would feel a little uneasy if this article was continuously updated with all the developments in women's wrestling in WWE. It would be weird for Wikipedia to treat men and women differently now, when WWE itself has technically given them the same status.
Before I finish, I feel that I ought to point out that if the title of this article was 'Women in WWE' then that would leave a space for people such as Renee Young to be included, and I'm pretty sure that that's not the intention, especially as she is someone who has never had any differing status to her male colleagues. RedvBlue 18:05, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Sounds sensible. The article covers history before and after the use of the "Diva" term; the proposed title better represents the scope.--Cúchullain t/c 14:57, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Divas Revolution \ Women's Evolution[edit]

Hi, I was considering splitting the page and making an article solely focused on the Divas Revolution, transition from eye candy to serious competitors of the women in WWE, starting around 2013 with NXT and documenting the changes and firsts for women since then, considering this article is pretty lengthy. Does anyone have any thoughts or objections? Azealia911 talk 21:21, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can't use Divas because it's out of date. WWE Women's Evolution? Would it include outside commentary on the portrayal of women in WWE? Ozdarka (talk) 10:16, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
