This is my first attempt at a real article. I have a great deal of experience designing and building workbenches, but very little designing and building Wikipedia articles.

Please edit mercilessly - and any feedback to me is very welcome.

Great article - very comprehensive. One small point though I don't know what side of the Atlantic you are - but in the old world we spell Vise as Vice! Sidney Bung 19:07, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes a very informative article derived from personal expertise, which I found very helpful. However it lacks any inline citations, even though a number of references are included. Can you track details of the article to where they may be found in the reference books? User:Jamesmcardle 04:15, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Holdfast #2[edit]

There is another device called a holdfast. This second type has a vertical column which is threaded at the lower end so it can be fixed to the bench. The upper end has a "U" shape which has a rotating arm. The arm is screwed onto the column which causes the long end of the arm to clamp the wood. This device is not described or pictured in the article. AnnaComnemna (talk) 17:49, 13 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Split proposed[edit]

The Vises section is extremely long. In fact, it's longer than the Vise article, which is were I was going to suggest merging it into. However, it's so long, maybe it could be an article on it's own? Or not. Either way, there's way too much information about vises in this particular article. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 14:50, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Makes sense, I would support this. LittleDwangs (talk) 18:58, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
