JOTA/JOTI/JOTT[edit]

  • Support Yes, good idea: merge into this article. The three articles are either very short or have hardly any surplus information. Perhaps in the future when someone really gets into it, an separate article either one of these topics can be pulled out, if needed. Okay, so all the information from the Jamboree on the Air, Jamboree on the Internet, and Jamboree on the Trail is now in the World Scout Jamboree article. I marked JOTA and JOTI for deletion when I had done them - some admin decided to have JOTA redirect to the main article, but a different admin decided not to lost JOTI... would be nice for some consistency, eh?   • Easy: if they're deleted: recreate them as redirects. If they're still there: remove all text and make a redirect. You don't need a admin for that: just make redirects (they're cheap).         • bold but not reckless okay... as for the articles - the JOTA and JOTT articles were only a couple of paragraphs, and there is more info in the main one now than there was in there... JOTI was deceptive, as it contained a lot of the general history of Jamborees/World Scout Jamboree/JOTA and only a paragraph that was specifically JOTI - hence my merging of them.           • I have updated the JOTA segment of the article to be accurate to the 2006 JOTA report and the current promotional materials that WOSM offers. (Complete with references) I could go back and give you several years worth of participation data, but I don't know if that is too much information. If I did that, the article in and of itself may be complete enough for it's own treatment. I will ask the group for their guidance. Please leave me information on my talk page with your thoughts. 3rd World Scout Jamboree[edit]

In the history section it states that the number of participants at the 3rd World Scout Jamboree was 50,000 ("the permanent contingent who remained for the entire event"), but in the list of events it states that the number of participants was mere 30,000. /Natox 09:49, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This Jamboree had a number of Auxiliary Camps in the surrounding area, mostly of British Scouts. Hence with these included the total was around 50,000. Image issues[edit]

Per discussions at WT:SCOUT, the use of non-free logos in lists is not an acceptable use. All of the WOSM logos are used elsewhere; the WFIS logos are a problem, as they are used only in this article. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 10:02, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suitability of additional data?[edit]

First of all, given the recent unsourced addition. Does anyone believe that the location of the 25th WSJ in 2023 will be decided anywhere other than the 40th World Scout Conference in August 2014 in Slovenia? Secondly, would information on the other bidders for the WSJ be appropriate either here or at World Organization of the Scout Movement#World Scout Conference (as well as all of the declared bids (like Korea) for the 2023 WSJ which will be presented in 2014?)Naraht (talk) 15:53, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I am not that convinced about the Olympic bids, but at least there is a lot of public discussion of them. Do we have references that show that people outside the World Committee are discussing the Jamboree bids?   1. per Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Icons#Inappropriate use, which was cited in my edit summary, the flags should not be added-the Scouting WikiProject frequently has to remove them from articles
  2. it is bad form to remove existing sources in favor of your own. If your sources are good, add them, but don't remove the old sources
  3. it is bad form to rewrite large sections of existing articles-your text should fit in to the existing text, not overwrite it
That said, I believe you are a dedicated Scouter, and your hard work is appreciated, if you will work with those editors who have been working on these articles for years, and not against them--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 13:58, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
