WLBS[edit]

The article says World Ladies Billiards and Snooker would have taken over the tournament in 2005. However, WLBS is pretty clearly part of the WPBSA, and that list of English Billiards winners indicates that WLBS has been responsible since 1998. --SamWinchester000 (talk) 23:39, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

Lede[edit]

  • known as the Women's World Open from 1976 to 1981 and the World Ladies Snooker Championship from 1983 to 2018 - should these altnames not be bold? Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 19:53, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • The inaugural champion was Vera Selby, who won the title twice. The most successful player in the tournament's history has been Reanne Evans, who has won 12 titles, followed by Allison Fisher with seven titles and Kelly Fisher with five. - could we swap these two sentences. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 19:53, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ng On-yee winning three titles in 2015, 2017 and 2018, Thai players Mink Nutcharut and Baipat Siripaporn winning respectively in 2022 and 2023, and China's Bai Yulu claiming her first title in 2024. - I feel like this could be fixed easily to avoid the run on sentence. General[edit]

  • Quick note, at no point in this article is snooker linked. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:01, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • The billiard trade company Burroughes and Watts often supported women's competitions, but that support ended after Riley took over the company in 1967 - who is Riley? Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:01, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Q Promotions company - who is this? Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:01, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • in 1997, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association ( - missing a caps. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:01, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ann-Marie Farren, who was aged 16 years and 47 days when she won the title in 1987, is recognised by Guinness World Records as the tournament's youngest winner as of 2024 - I'm not sure why we'd name drop Guinness world records. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:02, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
