Pagan Angels[edit]

"But the reference to angels is still from Judaism, not paganism, and some modern scholars identify the Hypsistarian groups, with Gentile God fearers, that is to say uncircumcised semi-proselytes to, and sympathizers with, Hellenistic Judaism.[9]"

In relation to Hypsistarians this line of thinking is erroneous, angels (Gk Aggelos = messenger) are also concept in ancient Hellenic Polytheism. The Angels of the Hypsistarians are the traditional Gods of Hellenic Mythology, as shown by the inscription at Claros. Reference; Pagan Monotheism in late antiquity.
