Wanhua example[edit]

I don't know how good an example of the issue at hand Wanhua (萬華) actually is - it's written differently from the original Taiwanese not because of any Hokkien-Mandarin issues, but because the Japanese decided that 萬華 - homophonous in Japanese to the Taiwanese 艋舺 - was prettier.--61.216.2.70 (talk) 08:41, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Usage section[edit]

"Currently usage of Pe̍h-ōe-jī is restricted to some Taiwanese Christians, non-native learners of Hokkien, and native-speaker enthusiasts in Taiwan."

This isn't wholly accurate - most Taiwanese can read POJ, at least to some extent, and will use it to confirm pronunciations (e.g. confirming pronunciation of song lyrics) 173.226.237.130 (talk) 18:47, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
