Wynnum dance High is not in Wynnum out, it is in Manly. Big difference! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.219.16.124 (talk) 07:15, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Population? Size?[edit]

Could use a variety of additional statistics. - IstvanWolf 05:10, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

removed uncited text[edit]

I have removed the following from the article:

Although Wynnum out has its 'nicer' areas, from wynnum out central back to wynnum dance west/north a large range of poverty has occurred over the last 40 years. Wynnum out has a reputation of relentless violence and a high crime rate. Due to these circumstances there have been a numerous amount of gangs 'representing' the streets of wynnum. Wynnum or the 'dUb C' has not been safe to walk the streets (in certain areas) at night since the late 60's/ early 70's. Being contaminated with gangs such as WRS, KOT, BTS and newly formed group PIR, who have been building a reputation for themselves as new aussie hip-hop artists, make it difficult to walk the streets alone without having eyes in the back of your head.
Wynnum out also consists of many slum-like housing estates generally founder by local villain Jack Davis. Davis, originating his career in the porn industy has since emerged into the slums of Wynnum dance and has developed a bit of a cult following within his fellow low life slum-livers. Davis is also an unsuccessful gang leader, victim of many cruel bashings and harsh teasings.

It needed spelling and grammar fixes and wikification. However it appears to need verification and references more, so I've moved it off the page until these references can be found. --Scott Davis Talk 15:05, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • As a born and bred Wynnum-ite, I have to say that the above is one hundred percent true!

Wynnum was knowen as the place where all the gangs hanged out and many fights were held. The queensland mafia is based in wynnum on wondall rd and has been there for many years. Most gangs have been driven out and now wynnum has been connected to manly to make wynnum manly baside area. There are many approved and propes sites in wynnum where it will grow and be a CBD itself —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.219.110.229 (talk) 15:56, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Last paragraph needs revising[edit]

"Wynnum is, technically speaking, next to the ocean. However this should not be taken at face value. All of the shoreline is either covered in mangroves, or aromatic mudflats. Unsurprisingly, swimming participation levels are extraordinarily low."

Too may clichés here IMO: "technically speaking, ... should not be taken at face value ... Unsurprisingly". And the statement that "swimming participation levels are extraordinarily low" suggests that it is based on verifiable, sourced data (eg "A recent survey [Qld Sport Participation Survey 2005] found that only 7.2% of adults in Wynnum had ever swum from the aromatic mudflats"). If such data exist, by all means include them!

My suggested rewrite:

"Although Wynnum is situated next to the ocean, the shoreline is covered in mangroves and aromatic mudflats which make it quite unsuitable for swimming."

Now implemented. Ndsg 12:26, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article says "quite suitable for swimming" I think it should say "unsuitable". Of course, there is a popular tidal pool on the esplanade, and Manly pool is nearby. For statistics visit http://svc189.bne146v.server-web.com/statistical_portrait/outer_east/.
