Review on X-mini[edit]

Done by Leonard, Qi Qian, and Peilynn for AB1401

The article as a whole is appropriate for Wikipedia and informative as many facts about the company had been presented in a clear and logical manner. The lead section is understandable with certain key points summarized such as the company’s objectives, products and financial performance. However, not all the points in the article are summarized in this section such as the overseas market and corporate social responsibility.
The structure is clear with several headings and subheadings at appropriate places making the article easy to read and understand. To make the article more comprehensive, more information can be presented about the company such as the history and the key management team in the company. This will allow the reader to have a more detailed knowledge regarding the company’s culture, operating practices and how has the company made progress over time.
References and footnotes are generally done well with the correct coding and placing. Most of the references have come from reliable sources. However, there could be of a wider variety of sources apart from websites that are affiliated with the company itself as there could be a certain level of biasness. The various sections are well-balanced with each section being equally detailed and supported with references. Generally, the phrasing used in the article avoided having a bias tone which allow the overall article standpoint to be neutral satisfying the requirement of Wikipedia.
The article is on the whole, a good and informative source for people looking for more information regarding X-mini and the company Xmi Pte Ltd.

Article Review[edit]

General

The overview of the article is direct, and as such, allows for an easy understanding of the whole article as it introduces to readers what the article would be about. The structure of the article is also easy to follow, and includes information that an average reader would probably be interested about. Even though the article topic is on a company, the article managed to maintain a largely neutral tone even while providing information on the different products of the company. Images of the company products could also allow readers to better learn about the company.

References

The references used are largely third-party sources, with certain highly reputable sources. Such sources include the speech by the Senior Minister of Trade and Industry, Forbes and Bloomberg. As such, this increases the reliability of the article. However, the article would be even better if there were even more independent sources that were used to reference certain sections of the article.

Products

The article includes a timeline of the company, which allows readers to understand how the company’s product development has changed since its inauguration. This may be useful for readers who are interested to learn more about consumer trends and how the company has established itself despite having dominant players in the audio industry. However, the statement about the company investing $1 million in a manufacturing plant in China could possibly been better placed as the last paragraph instead, given that the previous two paragraphs and the next paragraph are on information about the different types of speakers produced by the company.

Overseas Market and Corporate Social Responsibility

These sections serve to inform readers of other facts about the company that they might not have noticed usually. With an increasing emphasis on these areas in today’s world, these sections provide an interesting read on the company through the usage of a neutral tone to prevent the article from being self-promotional.
