Propose article rename to Xihuacan[edit]

I suggest renaming this article to Xihuacan. The initial archeological site was named after this small town nearby. The research has allowed identification of the native name and the onsite museum and most new research uses the native name. The archeological zone is still named in alignment with this article, but most current literature is using the Nahuatl name for this site.

Reviewing Wikipedia guidelines on naming conventions and article titles, I suggest consistency with articles like Palenque and Chichen Itza provide the guiding principle.

Renaming to Xihuacan would also allow easier documentation of the etymology of the name.

If no one objects in the next several days, I will rename and use the following outline for the article:

  • Intro & infobox (mainly same, but update place name)
  • Etymology
  • History
  • Site
  • Restoration plans
  • La Soledad de Maciel

and then standard references, links, etc., sections.

Added some photos to Commons to document. More to come from recent inspection of site.

Odd statement[edit]

La Soledad de Maciel
The site coincides with the ancient city of Cihuatlán. That statement is odd, because that city is located in Jalisco. Peter Horn User talk 04:04, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Xihuacan would be more like it. Peter Horn User talk 04:14, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification needed[edit]

@Thelmadatter: Please help me clarify: | Chronology || 800 a.C. – 300 d.C. → | Chronology || 800 BC – 300 AD. Spanish language abbriviations are not helpful in an English language text. Peter Horn User talk 14:44, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
