Pages describing the mere existence of xtube.com have been repeatedly deleted from wikipedia, for IMO nefarious, bogus, and petty reasons. I was unable to find a more comprehensive source from past articles, so I created a new small article for others to build on.
From what I can see here's how the deletions have gone down in the past: A given user thinks that the mere existence of xtube should be censored. They cite an arcane or non-applicable highly technical wikipedia rule for the deletion. No one has time to respond since we're all busy with our real lives. The deletion goes through.

Next someone like me notices that xtube is a valid independent site, and that it's quite different in scope from many other sites, and that it's it's own site operated by a unique company and a unique set of individuals. We wonder why the site isn't on wikipedia. We add it. Then the more established & committed censors strike again. And again. And again. And so on.

So anyway, you shouldn't delete an entry for a site that actually exists for hell sakes! Yes maybe there have been longer entries for the site in the past. But when people put a lot of work into writing up articles, and when a dedicated censorer comes along with arcane non-applicable rules in his bag which he uses to strike down & eliminate from the global consciousness present at wikipedia - when such censoring people strike again and again, one can become disheartened.

But we are here - the people who believe in honesty. Leave this site up. If you think the article needs cleaning, then post that message, but for hell sakes don't delete it. Don't deface & degrade the value of this whole site by inappropriate actions that seek to censor from public knowledge info about web sites that actually exist.

To me the site is of value. Leave it's description on.

Sincerely,
cbean

Or, one can simply view the deletion log... SQLQuery me! 08:45, 31 October 2007 (UTC) www.xtube.com[reply]

Cbean: The problem is not whether Xtube exists, but whether it is notable. If you are having trouble finding sources that describe Xtube in a neutral POV and that provide useful information that meets Wikipedia's content policies, then there is a good chance that no such material exists, and thus the site does not meet WP's requirements for encyclopedic content. It appears that's the primary reason this article has been deleted multiple times before - CSD A7 states that an article that fails to assert its notability may be speedily deleted. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 17:00, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From cbean: Added many references to notability. Wrote a more comprehensive article. Saved the source this time so that it can be more easily restored if it's deleted again. I have nothing whatsoever to do with xtube.com by the way. I'm not an owner nor do I make money off of the site. I'm a general advocate of all such sites, including pornotube, youporn, and redtube also. I'd be up for an advertisement free site where ads are banned. But until that can happen, using these sites with ads on them is of value. For example I have a gay nephew who derives value from such sites. And I as a straight man who was raised in the sexually repressive culture of Mormonism, and who felt he was abused by that culture - I naturally find such sites of value. I don't like flakiness nor crassness - and home-grown "porn" tends to have less of these attributes. And I'm all for having a real life too aside from staring at a computer screen. But staring at a screen can be a means to and end and can prompt & can facilitate people getting off their butts and improving the quality of their lives. - cbean —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbean (talkcontribs)

This site...[edit]

Love it. ((my shameless channel plug)) ... :) -- anyways I think we should put a logo image up on here on this article. Would make it hot. --eric dilettante' (mailbox) 06:39, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Site Open, DNS Errors[edit]

Got a shock when i went on today to see a holding page. Checked through a proxy site and it works. This must mean that it is a DNS Server error and people who cant currently access it will do soon as soon as your (or your ISP) cache is cleared. So i set the site status back to active and removed "Xtube is forever closed on November 24, 2009." as this statement is untrue and has no source.

No it doesn't work :-( —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.182.11.84 (talk) 15:05, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yep it does work if you use a proxy like www.megaproxy.com - Your ISP is pointing you to their old server. This will be refreshed for you soon.
This is a press release from xtube.com:
Last night our DNS provider screwed up meaning no one could access the site last night between 10pm and 2:30am EST. The error is corrected and don’t worry, XTube is not going anywhere. As of this blog, there are still some connection errors so somethings wont work correctly until all the server errors are cleared, believe me we are just as frustrated as you are about this. We are working on it as I write this and we should have it all sorted out and back to normal shortly. Sorry for the trouble and we will keep you updated.
So the site is ACTIVE and i am going to edit the info box on the article and put an invisible FYI next to it. --AspireNW (talk) 19:37, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not notable, but it´s a reliable source.[edit]

A small swedish town named their new waterslides Xtube, and then had a "oops" moment. http://na.se/nyheter/kumla/1.1925803--oj-vi-har-inte-porrsakrat-namnet- Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:57, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

Is it relevant that users must be 18[edit]

Is it relevant or notable that the terms and conditions of a particular porn site state that users must be 18 years of age or older? Maybe that bit should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Humanlike174 (talkcontribs) 04:07, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
