back yemenite??[edit]

I don't think there is any such step as a back yemenite. Can someone name a dance that uses it? Even if it is possible to do the step, it is impossible to do it with a genuine yemenite "feel". Erniecohen (talk) 13:00, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, but the term is common enough (although no example comes immediately to mind). I wonder if there are any refs on this. Anyway, I tried to mitigate the language a bit. --Rich Janis (talk) 10:27, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm Israeli and in Israel we call it Temani or Rikud Temani so It should be called Temani or Temani Dance however you want it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.36.167.106 (talk) 04:29, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree it's called Temani in Israel, not Yemenite. We also have another hopping dance called Atary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.36.132.108 (talk) 03:26, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, then what do you make of this Israeli dance? Shabbat Menucha. It seems to consist entirely in variations on the Yemenite step. Not just front and back yemenites, but also "turning yemenites".--AJim (talk) 18:14, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Temani (dance) into this article[edit]

Yemenite step seems to be a much more common name than Temani dance and they both discuss the same subject. Anyone opposed to a merge? Tiamuttalk 10:18, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge - Good suggestion, Tiamut.--Gilabrand (talk) 10:21, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge- Per nom. Falcon8765 (talk) 19:44, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge - essentially same information; best to improve one article than have two about the same thing :-) --Nsaum75 (talk) 06:58, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge, of course, as per WP:COMMONNAME. Also, note that the creator & primary editor of Temani (dance) is apparently involved with the site cited as the lone ref in that article (based on claimed ownership of a photo from that site). And yet, despite that editor's insistence on changing "Yemenite" to "Temani" in various articles, that cited site uses "Yemenite" rather than "Temani" on its English pages. (BTW, I'm deleting the link in that ref as self-promotional, and invalid as it doesn't match its description.) --Rich Janis (talk) 10:01, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge as per above. Joe407 (talk) 18:01, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
