WashU Class[edit]

S.srivatsa here. I added the following sections/subsections to this article and wrote the majority of the copy beneath each section: geographic range, habitat, parental care (ovipositioning), life history (including egg, larva, pupa, and adult), genetics, mating, appearance, threats, and the spruce bud moth as a pest. I deleted the sections that previously existed, but retained some of the pertinent information and meshed it with the sections and subsections I added in. Finally, I added several images of the moth to better illustrate its appearance and life cycle stages. I also added in 10 new references. I was having difficulties with finding photos, so if any other contributors have usable photos please add them to the article! —Preceding undated comment added 05:42, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

Peer review[edit]

Hello! Great job on the article. I made a few minor changes to help improve the article a bit. I added hyperlinks to some key words and fixed the capitalization on your headings to follow Wikipedia’s standards. I also fixed a small error in one of your citations. I did change some section titles to follow the outline given to us in class more closely, but feel free to revert these changes if you disagree! It’s unfortunate that there are not many photos available, but I added some photos of other topics in this article to help its visual appeal. One thing I noticed is that your overview completely lacks citations, so it might be a good idea to cite some of your facts there. Also, it seemed a little odd to categorize the Flight subsection under Appearance. Maybe it would help to change retitle the overall Appearance section? Overall, nice work. :) J.j.lee (talk) 02:12, 28 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I altered the wording of many sentences throughout the article for clarity or conciseness as I thought the phrasing was often convoluted or far more complicated than necessary. I think the “Physical appearance” section is very far down and might be better if moved to the “Adult” section in “Life history” because it is so short already. For the “Egg” section, the last fact has no citation. Under “Pupa,” could you possibly clarify what you mean by prepupae with a brief description? Under “Adult,” could you also alter the wording or provide clearer explanation of what post-eclosion is? J.j.lee (talk) 18:59, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this is Shreenidhi! I think this article is fairly comprehensive. I particularly liked the section on interaction with humans, and found the use of pheromones to capture these moths very interesting. The overview summarizes the article well, although it is not referenced. I have heard that some wiki editors prefer not to have citations in the lead of the article, but I think it is personally better to put them in. Overall, I mainly edited sections to minimize repetitions and made a couple of grammatical and stylistic fixes to improve flow. Good job!Shreenidhipm (talk) 23:39, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Overall good work! I made a few small edits to wording and moved the enemies section. I also added a bit of new info in the larva section from a new source. I'd recommend trying to add info to your existing sections, as I think your overall frame work is good, it just needs some more info. Mllutz (talk) 01:19, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Mllutz[reply]
