Release[edit]

The article talks about two common releases of the album; one from Castle and one from Relativity. However the cover scan at the bottom is of the release on Jive Electro records, which used a generic cover tinted in different colours for each of the early Tangerine Dream reissues. Is this essentially the same as the Castle issue, or is it just not mentioned in the article? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 21:52, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That one, I believe, is an LP issue left unmention'd. --Trɔpʏliʊmblah 12:43, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The 4th paragraph of the Release section is unnecessarily confusing. For clarity, it should be noted that the 5 CD series with covers showing the same geometrical lines in different background colors were on the Jive Electro label, not 'Zomba Music', which only appears as a publishing name inside the booklet [1]. Jive Electro is in fact a sub-label of Zomba [2]. Also, the 5 CD Jive Electro series, including Zeit (catalog# CTANG3), was released in 1986, not 1996. The 'alternative cover' image that is (correctly) captioned "1986 reissue cover", is of the 1986 Jive Electro release. Krabapple (talk) 21:07, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fuller titling[edit]

My Relativity cassette, for its track listing, actually has:

First Movement
Birth of Liquid Plejades

Cellist Joachim von Grumbcow[edit]

Is it reasonble to assume that Grumbcow is Joachim von Grumbkow, cellist and founder of German progressive rock group Hoelderlin?
Varlaam (talk) 07:06, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article listing was wrong. It is "Jochen" who is credited.
But the issue remains. Is this the same cellist? Varlaam (talk) 07:15, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My Relativity CD lists Jochen von Grumcow. Discogs lists him with several name variations, including Joachim von Grumbkow.[1] ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 08:01, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
When we were listening to Hoelderlin around here 30 years ago, Zeit was not available. I think the first 2 Dream LPs were unavailable on LP at that time, even as German imports.
So I don't recall anyone previously making a connection here.
Would you like to set up some links over to Hoelderlin?
I am a Nektar/Grobschnitt/Triumvirat guy, not a genuine Dream guy.

Hoelderlin's bio on their website does indeed mention Grumbkow being also one of the Zeit cellists. --Trɔpʏliʊmblah 22:57, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Times[edit]

The times in the track listing are actual times. The Relativity CD lists "Birth of Liquid Plejades" at 20:00, but it is actually 19:57. This is not uncommon. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 08:03, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actual times, meaning you timed it?
As a listener, I'm interested in that.
As a WP editor, I am supposed to remove OR.
Is there a TD fansite somewhere which discusses this for a quick citation?

You're an admin; I had assumed otherwise.
Do we have verifiability here?
Varlaam (talk)
The times in the track listing are from VitN, which is referenced. I confirmed this against the MP3s I ripped from the CD which match; see WP:CALC. Different releases may include the times for the different gaps between tracks: a few seconds either way is trivial. Sometimes the track list or liner notes are just wrong: TD releases are notorious for errors. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 16:46, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Remastering[edit]

The 'darker, muddier' sound doesn't necessarily mean the tapes have deteriorated. It could just as easily reflect mastering EQ choices -- reduced treble, added bass. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.122.2.244 (talk) 19:40, 12 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
