A Day in the Death of Joe Egg[edit]

"Her most memorable performance is considered that of a mother in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg (1969), a black comedy by Peter Nichols, adapted from his stage play, about a handicapped child. For her performance in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg on Broadway, Walker won the 1968 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play."

I would like to edit that paragraph, not least by cutting out the second mention of the title, but I don't know for certain what it refers to. A Broadway run of the play surely wouldn't need to be "adapted"? And why "(1969)" when Walker seems to have won her Tony the previous year? Is this a reference to a TV version? If so, it doesn't seem to be mentioned on her IMDb page. Harfarhs (talk) 16:21, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know anything about this either, but I suspect "1969" is an error for "1967", when the play was premiered in Glasgow, and then opened in London – see A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. It then transferred to Broadway in 1968 (possibly in a lightly "adapted" form?), where Walker won her Tony. But I agree: some further research and rewording necessary.
