Literal translation[edit]

The article begins with: "Zij-i Ilkhani or Ilkhanic Tables (literal translation: 'The Ilkhan Stars'..." I don't know Persian but the apparent translation of "zij" as "stars" disagrees with the Etymology in Kennedy, where the term "zij" is clearly related to the columns of a table. Could someone who knows medieval Persian deal with this? I suspect the literal translation given here may reflect modern Persian usage while "Ilkhanic Tables" reflects medieval usage. --SteveMcCluskey 18:41, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
