Neil[edit]

It was fair enough to remove this but I'm adding it here in case there is a better way to present it. The LA Times review of Zoo or False does note "It was a little odd to hear people calling Neil Patrick Harris by his real name" -- Horkana (talk) 13:01, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Robin likes guns; Barney picks up women[edit]

The inclusion of the item that references Robin liking guns as continuity is a misuse of the idea of "continuity". If well-established character traits being shown count as "continuity", then "Barney tries to pick up women in a bar" would be continuity this episode (and in most). References to the threesome belt or to a rarely appearing person like the pizza guy are good continuity, as is reference to plot elements that call back past episodes (like the champagne cork incident). But demonstrations of every little character trait that has previously been established is not. Barney picking up women in bars is pretty evident in most episodes. Robin liking guns wasn't made as clear as I expected it would be, and isn't mentioned as much as you'd think. I haven't seen absolutely every episode of the show and if you had missed a few you might only think that Robin accompanied Lily to the range, it isn't stated outright that she brought Lily to the range. (If the plot mentioned it I'd have preferred to squeeze it in there but oddly it didn't.) She even looked a little freaked out by Lily's enthusiasm, which is all the more strange if you know the context. It isn't the greatest continuity point but I did think it was worth a mention. Since I was only readding what I think two other editors had tried to add in different ways (seemed like a weak consensus to me), but I will leave it out if you're quite sure we can't improve it? -- Horkana (talk) 05:27, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Case in point mentioning Robins interest in guns seems to me a lot more like mentioning

- Marshall quotes facts about monkeys. His fascination with them was first mentioned in Life Among the Gorillas episode.

Robin's interest in guns is mentioned much more often than you suppose. It is one of her basic character traits. The first mention of it is in season 1 and it is referenced many times each season. It was part of the basis for her first bonding with Barney in season 1. It was one of the main points of contention between Robin and Ted when they lived together in season 2. Jokes about guns are commonly made in passing in many, many episodes.
