NOTE: While the official name of the university is the University of California, Berkeley, when the school's athletics are involved however, the teams should be referred to primarily as just the University of California or California and secondarily as Cal. The university's sports teams SHOULD NOT be referred to as UC Berkeley, Berkeley, or UCB. University of California, Berkeley should only be used to establish the connection between the Berkeley campus and the Golden Bears.
