Bat-Sheva Dagan[edit]

Bat-Sheva Dagan
Bat-Sheva Dagan

Created by Yoninah (talk). Self-nominated at 22:26, 19 November 2016 (UTC).

  • Article was created by Yoninah on November 19 and is presently over 7000 characters, so it is certainly new enough and long enough. Thoroughly referenced to quality sources and properly documented (no bare urls). The hook facts about happy endings (including the direct quote) and having been in Auschwitz are confirmed by the Yad Vashem video. Though it is in Hebrew, there are English captions and I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of the translation - Yad Vashem is a serious and highly-respected project and memorial.
  • The image is appropriate for the hook and the main page, and is listed as CC-BY-SA 4.0. However, it is listed as the "own work" of the uploader, and it seems to be that user's sole Commons contribution, so I don't know how to check on the validity of the copyright status / claim. Majora has been very helpful to me with commons and copyright issues, so I am pinging to ask for input.
  • Earwig reports violation unlikely and the highlighted commonalities are policy-compliant and non-problematic. I see no evidence of other problematic policy issues.
  • QPQ review completed and not previously claimed.
  • I would be inclined to re-order the hook as:
... that Auschwitz survivor Bat-Sheva Dagan (pictured) writes Holocaust stories for children that have happy endings "in order not to rob them of their faith in mankind"?
because it flows better in my opinion, but that is by-no-means a requirement for approval. It is length-compliant either way, neutral, and interesting.
  • – giving this a question mark as I am unsure whether to just accept the claim the image is freely licensed or needing evidence (like an OTRS ticket or a weblink). Any thoughts on this, BlueMoonset? Otherwise, I'll hope to hear from Majora. Article is ready to go in all other respects. EdChem (talk) 08:57, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
  • @EdChem: I see no reason to doubt it. No hits with a reverse image search (besides Wikipedia) and the EXIF looks fine. The caption on hewiki says it was taken at her granddaughter's wedding. At this point there wouldn't be much more for OTRS to do besides receiving an email from an unverifiable email address. I would say AGF at this point. --Majora (talk) 22:41, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
  • Thank you, Majora, I was being cautious but on your advice am happy to accept the image as CC-BY-SA 4.0. Yoninah, I hope you understand my caution. I note your removal of the errant hyphen I included in my formulation, which I take to mean you had no other objection. EdChem (talk) 04:28, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
  • This nomination is ready to go. I leave it to the promoter to decide whether to use Yoninah's original wording or my suggestion, unless Yoninah comments directly on a preference. I think my wording is preferable but the original is compliant and usable. EdChem (talk) 04:28, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
  • @EdChem: I'm happy with either version; leaving it to the promoter to decide. Thanks for your thorough review! Yoninah (talk) 10:01, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
