Emesa helmet[edit]

  • ... that the Roman Emesa helmet was restored by the same person who restored the Anglo-Saxon Sutton Hoo helmet? Source: Huey 1962: p.1 & p.2; Maryon 1947 (for an account of his restoration of the SH helmet).
    • ALT1:... that the Roman Emesa helmet appears to be modeled after its wearer's face? Source: Seyrig 1952a, p. 67: "There can be no doubt that the craftsman has represented a very definite physical type, and it is quite probable that he has attempted to portray not only the features of the ethnic group to which the bearer belonged but even the bearer's individual countenance."
    • ALT2:... that the Roman Emesa helmet is covered in silver gilding? Source: Seyrig 1952a, p. 67: "On the front, sides, and rear, it is sheathed with solid silver".

  • Hi Usernameunique, review follows. Article created 6 December; article of good length; article is inline cited throughout to reliable sources; most of the sources are offline only but I checked the two online sources and the facts checkout and there is no copyright violations on them, I am happy to AGF the rest; QPQ has been done; hook facts are interesting and cited to online sources. My preference is for ALT1, though it may be worth amending "appears to be" to "is probably" to match the wording of the source, the article itself uses "suggests that" - Dumelow (talk) 20:13, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
