Goalkeeper (water polo)[edit]

Water polo goalkeeper saving a shot

  • ... that water polo goalkeepers (example pictured) in the 1880s were allowed to stand on the pool deck and leap onto an opponent's head?

  • I assume you meant to use "1880s" in the hook, but your source doesn't say water polo originated at that time. It states that rugby posts were added at the pool ends to shorten scoring area. Additionally, facts stated in your DYK must appear in the article. Mgrē@sŏn 04:22, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

I think that the below hook is much better, and yes, I did mean the 1880s. JZCL 16:56, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
  • I tweaked a couple of places and added another sentence to anchor the hook. Image is from Commons, so it's free. Length ok, new enough, sources acceptable. I think we're good to go. Mgrē@sŏn 20:45, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
  • I'm concerned that some of the phrasing and structure used in this article may be too close to that of this source (and the Snyder source which copies from it). Nikkimaria (talk) 20:39, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
  • I edited the article to address the close paraphrasing and I am returning it to the queue. I find it more satisfying to fix problems than to play back-and-forth games with article creators and nominators -- and this saves me from trying to fill out the queue with another hook. --Orlady (talk) 21:21, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
