James Ferguson (Scottish politician)[edit]

James Ferguson (1735-1820)

  • ... that James Ferguson (pictured) was so ugly that his own mother warned him against being mistaken for a rapist?

  • Comment: This is the first time I've nominated an article, so I hope I have done it correctly? I've just moved the text from my user box to main space.

  • Yes, you did so correctly. The article and hook seems fine for DYK, though I cannot verify the hook's accuracy because I do not have access to the source. I have two concerns, though. The first concern I have is regarding the sections about his father and grandfather. Is is really relevant in this article's context? Perhaps these two sections should be omitted. If they are notable enough, this can also be split into another article. This is just my opinion, feel free to seek a second opinion if you want. The second is in regards to the licensing of the photo. Was this image created in the United States? It is tagged with a US copyright notice that specifically refers to "U.S. works". Perhaps the license should be {{PD-old-100}}? (or see here for more tags)--Lionratz (talk) 02:59, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
  • Thank you for taking the time to look at the article and your constructive comments! I have changed the licence and I've removed the sections on his father and grandfather from the article. My intention had been at a later date to do individual articles on both of them together with a much lengthier article about the estate itself. SagaciousPhil - Chat 07:32, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
  • Looks good to me. AGF on hook ref. Good job for your first DYK.--Lionratz (talk) 12:22, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
