Jiggs II[edit]

Jiggs II in 1928
Jiggs II in 1928

Created by Chetsford (talk). Self-nominated at 21:17, 30 November 2018 (UTC).

  • New enough (less than seven days old), long enough (minimum of 1,500 characters excluding block quotes, headers, images and captions), hook is interesting enough, cited, and verified. It conforms to DYK policy, and the QPQ requirement is met. There appears to be no copyright issues with the photo proposed to be used. Arius1998 (talk) 04:22, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
  • @Chetsford: we usually accept holds for 6 weeks, not three and a half months. We're also running 16 hooks a day to reduce the backlog, so this will be promoted a lot sooner. I suggest wording it:
  • ... that United States Marine Corps mascot Jiggs II (pictured) won a blue ribbon at the 1926 Westminster? Yoninah (talk) 13:17, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
  • ... Yoninah that seems fine to me! Thanks - ALT proposed. Chetsford (talk) 09:18, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you. Restoring tick for ALT1 (AGF on offline source) per Arius1998's review. Yoninah (talk) 11:44, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

  • @Chetsford: the image is very dark at thumbnail size. What do you think about using the second public domain image in your article? Yoninah (talk) 20:32, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
  • @Chetsford: thanks. One more question. If this will be in the image slot, can we have something a little more hooky? Like:
  • ALT2: ... that United States Marine Corps mascot Jiggs II (pictured) was enlisted as a private and advanced to sergeant major in 1937?
  • Also, in that sentence in the article, do you mean "Initially" instead of "Notionally"? Yoninah (talk) 11:52, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
