- The challenge with researching this screenwriter is that most sources, including online ones, are about the screenwriter's approach to a given film. For example, there are a lot of interviews that have to do with how Collee wrote for Master and Commander and Creation and so forth. Screenwriters do not necessarily have a lot of biographical information (for example, Hossein Amini has written quite a few screenplays but has nearly no biographical information out there), so the sources I used here were focused on Collee and just happen not to be online. - Returning to the nom page because the article does not have a footnote for the fact about countries where he practised medicine. The last version of the hook said:
- "... that before John Collee became a screenwriter, he studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and practised medicine in Gabon, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka?"
- I find online sources for some countries he worked in but not this list of countries. --Orlady (talk) 04:24, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- Well, he traveled a lot! :) Let me get the direct passage from the reference. "I took medical jobs here and there, did a lot of Accident and Emergency work and then tropical medicine – in Gabon, Madagascar, Sri Lanka – but I was no longer on any sort of career path." The Wikipedia article mentions Scotland (part of the UK) and the Solomon Islands too; Israel was not mentioned in these sources. I reviewed Access World News but did not find any specifics about that in the database. I think it is just part of his travel repertoire since he did work for The Observer writing about medicine and travel.
