Movie poster

  • What's good: Interesting topic, long enough, new enough, amply supported by citations, QPQ done, and image license looks OK.
Problems:
  • The hook fact (and, indeed, much of the article) relies on the IMDB as a source. The IMDB is not a reliable source. Other sources exist (I've added a few, but my choices might not be ideal). Almost all of the content that is currently sourced to the IMDB probably could be sourced to pages in the book What Ever Happened to Robert Aldrich?
  • Article contains several excessively long direct quotations, including the long quote at the end of "The Aldrich collaboration" and several quotations in "Luciano's legacy." Some of the quoted material can and should be replaced by your own words. Also, it might be possible to rearrange some of the content under "legacy" so that the text focuses more on aspects of his work that multiple critics have noted. --Orlady (talk) 18:54, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
One more thing: The hook would be more effective if the words are rearranged to put the target article link near the beginning:
  • Thanks for your careful review and for the improvements you made to the article. I have replaced a number of the citations to IMDb with the filmography in Silver's monograph, refined some of the others, and added a citation to Slifkin. I had miscounted the number of films that Luciano edited with Aldrich using IMDb. The number is 20 both in IMDb and in Silver's monograph, but it is necessary to use the hard copy of the latter to verify this. I've now corrected the two hooks. I have shortened the quotations, which I hope is more satisfactory.
About the hooks: I had put Luciano towards the end of the original hook because Aldrich himself is no longer a familiar name, important as he was in his day. I'm happy to defer to other editors as to which hook would be better for DYK. Easchiff (talk) 03:41, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Looks good now. Thanks! I recommend the ALT1 word order because DYK is supposed to call attention to Wikipedia's new content, but that doesn't happen when the link to the target article comes after several other links. --Orlady (talk) 04:45, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
