Michael Schopper[edit]

Created by Gerda Arendt (talk). Self-nominated at 22:53, 23 July 2015 (UTC).

  • Length is good, tone is neutral, prose is clear, and citations are more than sufficient. QPQ verified. The dates are a little tight (7 days 21 hours from start to the first edit where length exceeds 1,500 characters of readable prose) but accepted in good faith. Close paraphrasing cannot be determined due to offline and German-language sources. One issue with the hook fact, however: the cited source makes it clear that this is the first recording of the conductor leading the performance of this work but the hook fact and the article add in a note about "period instruments" not present in the cited source. Am I misreading the source? Can you please point me to the bit about period instruments? - Dravecky (talk) 09:02, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
That recording is so well known as pioneering, - here's one mentioning, however that hardly belongs in the singer's article, - what can we do? Italic text — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gerda Arendt (talkcontribs) 14:18, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
If it's not in the cited source, it can't be in the hook fact. In certain circles perhaps this recording is well known but it's far from general knowledge so it needs to be sourced. - Dravecky (talk) 16:31, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
Will look for a source (there must be a source for the sky being blue) but it may take time, RL, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:12, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
I added a ref, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:02, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
What makes jsbach.org a reliable source? The cited text is apparently from a review submitted as a comment by a visitor to the site. Either way, he writes that this "recording of Harnoncourt must be the first on period instruments". Not is the first, merely must be. Have you got anything better? - Dravecky (talk) 14:13, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
I will look, took simply the first. It is just so, it was on period instruments, and there was no other before, thus the wording. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:59, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

Ah, much better. "In 1970, Nikolaus Harnoncourt directed the first period-instrument recording of the St. Matthew Passion – a moving performance which still has much to commend it." I'm a bit unclear on the Academia.edu vetting process but I'll accept it in good faith. Good to go. - Dravecky (talk) 00:39, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
