Reinforcement (speciation)[edit]

Created/expanded by Azcolvin429 (talk). Self-nominated at 15:39, 5 October 2017 (UTC).

  • @Azcolvin429: Created on 20 September, placed in the 28 September section but the nomination was only made yesterday. I'm afraid this is outside the 7 day window for new articles and it hasn't been 5x expanded since then. So i'm afraid it isn't eligible for DYK. Sorry. The C of E God Save the Queen! • Since this appears to be a first-time nominator who might not have realized our deadlines, and the article is quite long and extensively sourced, I was wondering whether, although it is eight days late per the rules, an exception might be given just this once for the nominator per WP:DYKSG#D9, since the backlog is quite low at 106 nominations including this one. Pinging a few DYK regulars—Cwmhiraeth, Yoninah, Cas Liber, and Maile—to get their thoughts. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:59, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
  • Those were my exact thoughts when looking at this nomination, especially as it is such a comprehensive and worthwhile article. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:05, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
  • Support IAR on this one. Perusing the new article, and based ond Yoninah's first glance review below, this nomination looks like Net Positive to appear on the main page. — Maile (talk) 11:45, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
  • New review: IAR on nomination date for first-time nominator. Long enough, neutrally written, well referenced. As most sources are offline, unable to check for close paraphrasing. ALT0 is worded best; offline hook ref AGF and cited inline. However, I'm wondering if you could define speciation to make the hook more accessible for non-scientific readers. Something like: that reinforcement is one of the few cases in which natural selection can directly influence the evolutionary development of species? No QPQ needed. All images freely-licensed. Maybe: ALT2: ... that reinforcement is one of the few cases in which natural selection can directly influence the origin of new species? Andrew Z. Colvin • Talk 04:19, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
  • Yes, thanks, that's great! ALT2 offline hook ref AGF and cited inline. ALT2 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 13:10, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
