Robert Galbreath, Jr.[edit]

  • ... that Robert Galbreath, Jr., was called both the "Oil King of the Southwest" and the "richest man in Oklahoma" after he discovered and drilled the first three productive wells in the Glenn Pool oil field, the largest in Oklahoma?
  • ALT1: ... that Robert Galbreath, Jr., was called the "Oil King of the Southwest" after discovering and drilling the first three productive wells in the Glenn Pool oil field, the largest in Oklahoma?

  • New article, long enough, hook has been cited, appropriate citations, interesting hook, neutral, first hook is too long, ALT1 hook is short enough. QPQ is needed. Edit Ferret (talk) 15:33, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Extension of above review which I accept but have not checked. QPQ checks out OK - thank you. No problem with disambig links or external links. Issue: Copyvio found with citation #1:

as a united states commissioner these were examining judges who determined whether enough evidence existed to send a case through the federal court system with his headquarters in shawnee in 1899 galbreath moved to oklahoma city to concentrate on real estate

  • I have only checked citation #1. Please check all your citations and remove copyvio or identify it as cited quotation before this review can be continued. Thank you.--Storye book (talk) 13:22, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
  • I have rechecked the citations and rewritten the offending passage you pointed out. Hopefully, this resoves any copy vio issue. Bruin2 (talk) 15:37, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you for your quick response. "Determining whether enough evidence existed" still looks like close paraphrasing. To prevent further discussion and delay of this nom, please re-write that bit. Thank you. --Storye book (talk) 16:39, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
  • @ User:Edit Ferret. Thank you. I have now done a final check for copyvio and found that the following sections are still identical in article and cited source, without being acknowledged with quotation marks:

a deputy u s marshal a mail carrier for the star route and edmond's postmaster he also started a newspaper (citation #1)

in 1893 he raced in the cherokee outlet opening and relocated his family (citation #1)

WP's very existence depends on (among many other things) keeping its nose clean in the copyright department. Yes, it's a great big bore for us all, and like other reviewers I hate having to drag through all those online citations for hours looking for copyvio and getting unwanted browser add-ons from the trashier links and having to regularly re-install my browser because of it - so please never ever copy and paste non-quote stuff into your article in case it gets accidentally left there without quotes, as no doubt has happened here. Just read the source, look away from it, write in your own words. My apologies for going on about this, but you write well and you can express yourself better than the source anyway. --Storye book (talk) 09:12, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your edit clarifying the role of the U.S. Commissioner. I appreciate your help on this article. I've made a couple of revisions to the wording of Galbreath's activities in Oklahoma, especially pertaining to the Star Route. Bruin2 (talk) 14:57, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Please could you kindly look again at the quotes from citations, above (I've put them in bold in case you missed them before) and re-write them entirely in your own words (or quote and cite them)? Sorry, I cannot pass such close paraphrasing - everything gets double-checked here anyway. Have patience - we'll get there eventually. --Storye book (talk) 16:03, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
  • I followed your suggestions regarding the items you pointed out. Thanks for your help and patience. If the rewrites are still considered too close to the source, then let's remove the worrisome passages altogether. The importance of the article lies in Galbreath's wildcatting activity, nt in his early life. Bruin2 (talk) 14:43, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you, Bruin2, for re-writing the second duplicated phrase (now struck out, above). All that remains is the first phrase in bold above (you have inserted extra words/characters in it, but it otherwise remains the same). I agree that it would be a good idea to simply remove that passage, if you think the article would be OK without it. --Storye book (talk) 15:23, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
  • I stopped by and trimmed the offending passage. Have another look. --Orlady (talk) 20:05, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you, Orlady. All issues now resolved. Good to go with ALT1, which checks out online with citation #4. --Storye book (talk) 20:23, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
