Article was created on 24 February, and nominated on 3 March. Would appear to be 1 day outside of 7 day window. Long enough with 2310 chars and neutral with adequate citations. Hook is 162 characters, thus within guidelines. There are some issues with close paraphrasing. If the text can be reworded, I would think that a 1 day exception could be granted. Interesting article. Still have an issue with paraphrasing. This sentence "The publication was the first serious collection of folk songs from Tennessee, the first compilation of black secular folk songs, and the first to be assembled by a black scholar." Is almost verbatim for this one "This successful publication was the first serious collection of folksongs from Tennessee, the first compilation of black secular folksong, and the first to be assembled by a black scholar." The subject is an important part of Americana and the hook is very interesting, but I am still concerned that the article will be in main space with possible close paraphrasing. It seems like phrases are being copied and then either a word or two deleted or switched around so as to not follow the exact order of the source. SusunW (talk) 15:24, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Keep in mind WP:LIMITED. If he published the first collection of secular black folk songs, for example, there's no way to substantially change any of the words without making the statement inaccurate. Antony–22 (^talk⁄_contribs) 17:47, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

No need for 2nd review now. New revision removed close paraphrasing on the contentious area. If you go from time created 17:52 there were indeed about 12 hours left of the 7 day window at the time of nomination. I think we are good to go. SusunW (talk) 04:29, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
