Toquepala Caves[edit]

5x expanded by Nvvchar (talk), Rosiestep (talk), Dr. Blofeld (talk). Nominated by Dr. Blofeld (talk) at 09:15, 12 July 2013 (UTC).

  • The article is long enough, it was expanded on July 7, and the hook is cited and interesting. Great work.--Typing General (talk) 15:50, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. However, I have added an img since it was initially left out. Hope you will consider reviewing the img and giving clearance to it. I have also reviewed Template:Did you know nominations/Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz--Nvvchar. 18:55, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
The image is free and is used in the article.--Typing General (talk) 23:01, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
  • I am opposed to the use of the image. I've changed the misleading, inaccurate caption on the image in the article, but I think the image should be removed from the article. Aren't any photos of the actual paintings available? Using a modern pencil drawing inspired by the cave paintings seems like a truly horrible idea to me. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 20:45, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Agree with Mandarax. If any images of the actual paintings can be used [1], they would be infinitely preferable. JNW (talk) 21:15, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
  • I found photographs of the actual cave paintings on the 'Peruvian Times' via a history blog here and here. The paintings should be in the public domain but only if they qualify as two dimensional art. If not, the Peruvian government's Department of Tacna has created professional reproductions of the cave art as seen here. There are many alternatives, and if possible, they should be used in place of the current reproduction.--Typing General (talk) 21:24, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Thanks for suggesting the sites for the cave paintings. They are not freely licensed and can not be uploaded to Wikicommons. Flickr does not have any pictures of this cave paintings. I am therefore removing the img from the hook and the article. I hope it would be in order.--Nvvchar. 05:44, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Too bad you weren't able to find any free images for DYK (although I suspect they're actually public domain in spite of any copyright claims), but a fair use one would certainly enhance the article. In any case, my concern about the DYK image has been addressed, so I'm reiterating Typing General's tick. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 19:22, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
