Merger with NW Washington stations[edit]

Emarsee, sorry I've not replied to your post yet, but I really object to merging the NW Washington material into this template, especially as presented so far. (No knock against your efforts, which are great as always.) This template is for the entire province of British Columbia, and should not be treated as a "local" one. Why can't we just have a template for Northwest Washington? That would be simpler, easier to maintain, and better suited to reflecting the local area (rather than the "kludge" that results from trying to serve multiple masters through a merge.). --Ckatzchatspy 20:40, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just feel that Northwest Washington lacks enough stations and population in order to have its own template. There are currently only two full powered and three translators on the air in NW Washington (and one of the translators is just a rebroadcast of KBCB) If anything, Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast deserves its own template more than NW Washington does. It doesn't fit into the Seattle template at all as neither stations are seen reliably via OTA and only KBCB is carried on cable, (only due to their previous multicultural programming).
I could see the Vancouver template being split off with Vancouver Island and Northwest Washington and having a seperate template for the interior of BC.
Anyways, I've devised a template for Northwest Washington here: User:Emarsee/NWWATV  єmarsee Speak up! 00:40, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Emarsee, no disrespect against your efforts, but there is no reason to make this change. As such I've reverted the merge since the resultant split of the BC template is counter-intuitive. The BC market is best served by a coordinated master template, given that there are not a lot of stations overall. If anything, it helps to better illustrate exactly how the market is made up. While the NW Washington industry may be quite small, that is no reason to complicate the BC template. There are better solutions to be found. --Ckatzchatspy 04:42, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Further to this, the Northwest Washington market is fine with a template; it is actually bigger than I initially thought it would be. I've gone ahead and copied your work to Template:NWWATV, which looks as follows:

The only reason why it looks bigger is because I've added translators of KIRO and KSTW and construction permits of stations that are not on the air yet in Bellingham. If I didn't include these, there would only be three stations in the template.  єmarsee Speak up! 05:10, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
