Updated field

Can I request that | updated = is moved to the final field, to encourage editors to update the date to which stats, and/or other details within the infobox are believed to corrected til.Fleets (talk) 08:09, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

I've looked through the source coding a little, but was largely basing it on the template page area itself and it showing

Yeap, that moved to the final field. It seems to be a way some people do it anyways, but it would be nice if people updated the "updated" field, and I believe that the move would help. We have numerous instances on a weekly basis where editors update the stats after each other, with two games being added, with only one being played. Just thinking it might help to see the final field at the bottom on when someone creates it as a fresh infobox. Might be a long bleed through, but I'm just trying to make sure the details in the infobox are accurate.Fleets (talk) 13:42, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

But it doesn't matter if you do updated followed by source or vice versa in the code, it will still show up the same in the template... so even if we were to change the template itself, it wouldn't change the code being used on thousands of pages, and that is not a task worthy of a bot. Yeah my request here is to have it changed at the source, so that it is right going forwards. A wholesale line-shift on thousands of articles is something that is not on my radar, I'm just peeved when people don't update, add in extra games, update that field when they don't update the stats, etc.Fleets (talk) 14:10, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

I mean, I personally don't get it, because having it be the penultimate or the last entry in the visual infobox isn't really going to get people to actually update it if they weren't before, but....  Done I guess. Primefac (talk) 14:21, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

Headers are wrong?

I was browsing through a few player's articles after making (and later reverting) a header-related change to this template and I noticed that in the infobox there is no indicator of "rugby league". Take for example Tony Morrison - I would expect the "Playing information" to say something more like "Rugby league career", similar to how for example Mark Bingham's infobox says "Rugby union career". Am I missing something here or should I just go ahead and update the header(s) to more accurately reflect the sport they play? The only thing I can think of is that line 289 currently reads:

"New" parameter

Does anyone know what the purpose is/was of the below field? Does it actually do anything?

I see it a lot in infoboxes on older articles in particular e.g. Sean O'Loughlin. I assume it's no longer used? J Mo 101 (talk) 23:17, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

The short answer is it is a leftover parameter from when they created a new version of the infobox and needed to distinguish which pages were using which version. A longer discussion is at this archive page. It is definitely not needed any more, and I believe the only reason it is still listed in the unknown parameters check is that it would flood the category with thousands of pages were it to be removed, and it's so obscure that mass removal is somewhat unnecessary.
