Unions[edit]

I don't think a Union is that relevent to all clubs, so I'm going to remove that option from some, like the French teams, where all the unions are the same. Cheers. Cvene64 07:01, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If the team is playing in an international competition, its home union is important IMHO. --Bob 17:56, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Third kits[edit]

What can be done about clubs' third kits in the infobox? At the minute it seems like only home and away kits can be shown. PeeJay 16:42, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The only problem I see about that would be the placement of the kit. A third kit would balloon the infobox's width by half again if the kit were to be placed next to the others. Only other option would be to place the kit on it's own row underneath. --Bob 17:49, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Symbol/Emblem?[edit]

What about adding a Symbol/Emblem parameter under the nickname? Something like (England e.g.) Emblem: a Red Rose. --necronudist 09:50, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If nobody disagree I'll add it tomorrow. --necronudist 14:12, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
 Done --necronudist 12:15, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Erm, I disagree. Why is this parameter necessary? – PeeJay 15:48, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't necessary, like the nickname. But many teams are well known by nickname or by their emblem, plus emblem often explains the nickname (e.g. Pumas). --necronudist (talk) 15:53, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If it's not necessary, what's it doing in the infobox? The infobox should only contain essential information, such as the team's name, logo, most common nickname, year of establishment, etc. The emblem they use for their logo should be quite obvious by the image used in the infobox, and any explanation of said emblem should be put in the main text of the article. – PeeJay 16:04, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, few people knows that the English red rose is the Red Rose of Lancaster (originally, I put the link on the Emblem section...now there's only a useless "Red Rose"...you know...we all know how to recognize a red rose :-D ). Or "What the hell is this??" "A Carduus!" "Oh...!". This was the original purpose. However delete the field if you think it's useless. Or maybe discuss it on the WP:RUGBY --necronudist (talk) 17:29, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IRB World Rankings[edit]

Think someone could add a parameter for IRB World Rankings? I noticed that for men's national teams in football (soccer):

  • The standard men's national team template not only has entries for the FIFA World Rankings and Elo ratings, but also entries for the highest and lowest rankings that a team has ever attained in both.
  • For women's national teams, the current FIFA Women's World Ranking is included, though not a high or low.

IMHO, I think only the current IRB ranking is needed... unless someone wants to dig through and retrieve the high and low also. — Dale Arnett 22:32, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should only include IRB ranking. This can change quite regularly unfortunately, but as the ranking is include in many of the national team articles then having it in the infobox is a good idea. - Shudde talk 22:49, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, the IRB ranking would be very useful. Pikolas (talk) 21:04, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

URL tags don't work[edit]

The docs read "If the organisation has a URL, use {{URL}}", but when I attempt to use one within the infobox, e.g. "| url = {{URL|1=www.teamnamehere.co.uk}}", it garbles the output. Nick Number (talk) 17:53, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox flags[edit]

The infobox template under the section for examples for club/provincial teams includes several flags. MOS:FLAG discourages the use of flags in infoboxes. I propose we remove the flags. Thoughts? Barryjjoyce (talk) 04:29, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I support this. I find them distracting and that they also add undue weight to a players nationality/ethnicity (by drawing a readers attention to the bright flag rather than a player or team's name). MOS:FLAG discourages flags for this reason, and it definitely applies here. -- Shudde talk 05:39, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a diagonal stripe to kit displayed in Template:Infobox rugby team[edit]

Hi, I'd like to be able to use the club/provincial teams infobox for my local rugby club ...

Template:Infobox_rugby_team

... however our team has a black diagonal stripe from right-shoulder down to left side across a white shirt, and I'm not sure how or indeed if there exists a way in which I can display this on the "| body =" line? I've looked for other examples, but as yet have been unsuccessful.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Very many thanks,

Mike mikejamestaylor (talk) 13:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kit manufacturer[edit]

Hello, recently a new property (P5995) has been added to Wikidata that shows for a given sportsteam their kit manufacturer. It could be useful to fetch the Wikidata value in the infobox. -- SERGIO aka the Black Cat 10:43, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Owner[edit]

Can we please add '| owner =' the same way the football template has it, many rugby teams these days have private owners. Die Revenant (talk) 07:36, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Country flag parameters have been deprecated? Or just lost?[edit]

Although countryflag and countryflagvar parameters are defined in the template's documentation, neither appears in the actual source code. Have these parameters been deprecated or inadvertently lost? These are still used in some articles, for example Te Papapa Onehunga RFC. Truthanado (talk) 03:11, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request[edit]

Please remove the following from the infobox:

| below = {{#if:{{{prevseason|}}}{{{nextseason|}}}|<table style="font-size:95%; line-height:95%;background:#F9F9F9" width="100%" class="nowraplinks">
<tr>
<td width="50%" align="center">{{#if:{{{prevseason|}}}|← {{{prevseason|}}} }}</td>
<td width="50%" align="center">{{#if:{{{nextseason|}}}|{{{nextseason|}}} → }}</td>
</tr></table>

This infobox is not one that should be used in season articles, so there is no need to link to previous or next seasons. – PeeJay 18:58, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
