Unnecessary template[edit]

In my view this template is unnecessary overkill, considering the pre-existing Template:Media in the United Kingdom, Template:Television in the United Kingdom and Template:ITV and the fact that there are no England-only TV channels.

The templates Template:Television in Scotland and Template:Television in Wales achieve little which could not be included into Template:Television in the United Kingdom (which is currently a very low quality template, but could easily be added to and improved), but already exist and at least in those cases there are a few channels which are specific to those countries only. There is no England only TV channel, however their are the numerous BBC and ITV Regions, along with some minor local TV channels. Most of the channels I've removed are UK wide. -- [[ axg ◉ talk ]] 19:16, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In my view the best way forward would be to merge this template into the Template:Television in the United Kingdom, together with the information currently in Template:Television in Scotland and Template:Television in Wales. One template can easily achieve what four are currently doing. Template:Television in the United Kingdom should also have the primary UK-wide channels added to it. Welcome to the Discussion page! It's very good to finally see you here! I don't fully understand your point above but I will attempt to set out my general thoughts on this template below, and perhaps we can then work towards a common ground.

Firstly, as stated above, I question the need for a 'Television in England' template at all. Template:Television in the United Kingdom already exists and, although it does not currently include the sort of detail that you have been attempting to add to this template, there is no reason why it cannot and in my view it should. Virtually all TV channels in the UK are UK-wide. I accept that there are a small number of England-specific regional ITV franchises, as well as the English BBC regions and one or two local TV channels. However these can easily be included in the 'Television in the United Kingdom' template. In my view the contents of Template:Television in Scotland and Template:Television in Wales should also be included in that template. If necessary collapsible groups can be utilised to keep things compact.

However leaving that aside, I am strongly against the addition of UK-wide channels to this template, which is not just an illogical approach but a misleading one.Rangoon11 (talk) 12:46, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is a template about Television in England, which is about Television in England. But some users (specially AxG, Rangoon11 and Jevansen seem that not like the existence a template about Television in England and they are always spoiling it, putting a very cut version instead which TV studios in England or BBC2 England are excluded but including HTV Wales!!!! This template is for requesting edits to a semi-protected page, not requesting semi protection.
