Things you can do

Box width[edit]

Why is the box made explicitly so narrow? It takes up a lot of vertical space this way. ChKa 20:29, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Evidently that was resolved long ago. --P64 (talk) 22:55, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Too many characters/minutiae[edit]

There should be links to lists of characters and such, not individual pages. Until a series of movies are made, there's not all that much to say about them. Mdiamante 05:43, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been trying to write well sourced articles for the red links, but I deleted "Cantrevs". It is too minor and vague to write an article about.--Cbradshaw 22:32, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Five years later,
I visited all the Prydain Talk pages. Most are empty except for WikiProject banners (Children's literature everywhere; Fictional characters everywhere applicable; occasionally Wales, Religion, Celts, etc). These Talk pages alone do have some content:
• the main article, six articles on the particular books, one article on the film
Achren, Arawn Death-Lord; Black Cauldron; Cauldron-Born; Fflewddur Fflam; Gurgi; Horned King; Magg --summary: Fflewddur, Gurgi, and most of the articles on forces of darkness!
(Annuvin is a redirect to Welsh mythology and Talk pages for all eight so-called Prydain locations are empty.)
It is telling that Taran (character) and Princess Eilonwy talk pages are empty, not so much as a question about pronunciation. And Prince Gwydion is a red link (Gwydion being an article on Welsh mythology).
I visited all the voice actors for The Black Cauldron (film). Among the twelve, roughly: one quarter including Grant Bardsley Taran! are red links; one quarter do not mention the Black Cauldron role; one quarter simply list the role, perhaps in a sentence. One lists the role in the lead paragraph (Susan Sheridan Princess Eilonwy) and one says something substantial about the role (John Byner Gurgi & Doli, regarding the Gurgi voice).
I agree with five-year-old ;-) User:Mdiamante that most of the articles on particular Characters, Animals, Universe, and Locations —as the navigation box groups them— should be relegated to coverage in lists (broadly) and, I presume, some article akin to { Middle-earth, Narnia (country), Narnia (world), Pern }.
Most means more than half. Before reading the articles on particular I surmise based on general wp-experience that everyone in Category:Disney's The Black Cauldron characters‎ (10 P) is notable and practically a fixture. (Once you are in the movies, you are in wikipedia.)
Lists (broadly) means articles comprising alphabetically ordered sections some of which comprise a few paragraphs. Contrast List of The Chronicles of Narnia characters, which is a list (narrowly).
