Trent McDuffie (born September 13, 2000) is an American football cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Washington and was drafted by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft. McDuffie then became a starting corner for the Chiefs as the team won the Super Bowl of the 2022 season in his rookie season. In his second season, the Chiefs once again won the 2023 season Super Bowl with McDuffie as a starter. He was also named First-Team All Pro for his performances and had several prolific plays in the Super Bowl win.[1]
Early years[edit]
McDuffie attended St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California, after transferring from Servite High School. After his senior year he was selected to the All-American Bowl.[2] He committed to play college football at the University of Washington.[3][4]
College career[edit]
McDuffie played in all 13 games with 11 starts as a true freshman at Washington in 2019.[5][6] He had 45 tackles and one interception. As a sophomore in 2020, he started all four of Washington's games and had 14 tackles and an interception.[7]

McDuffie was selected in the first round with the 21st overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2022 NFL draft.[10] He made his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals.[11] He was placed on injured reserve on September 13, 2022, after an injury in Week 1,[12] and subsequently reactivated on November 1, 2022.[13] He recorded his first professional sack and forced fumble against the Denver Broncos in Week 17.[14] He finished his rookie season with one sack, 44 total tackles, seven passes defensed, and one forced fumble in 11 games and starts.[15] McDuffie helped the Chiefs reach Super Bowl LVII where he recorded five tackles in the 38–35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.[16]
Before the start of the 2023 season, McDuffie changed his jersey number from 21 to 22 to honor his brother Tyler, who died in 2015.[17]
McDuffie finished his second season with three sacks, 80 total tackles, seven passes defensed, and five forced fumbles. McDuffie was named First-team All Pro. The Chiefs reached Super Bowl LVIII where they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 giving McDuffie his second straight championship.[18] McDuffie recorded 3 tackles and 3 passes defended in the Super Bowl.[19]
