Abraham Dawod (born Abraam Dawod, Arabic: ابراهيم داود, May 3, 2000) is a Canadian film director known for Godzilla: Afterlife (2032) and Summer Forever (2029).

Early Life and education[edit]

Dawod was born in Ajax, Ontario as the first Canadian-born child of Egyptian parents. His parents divorced when he was two, and he was raised primarily by his mother. In 2004, his family moved to Mississauga, Ontario where he lived from age four to eighteen.

He attended Streetsville Secondary School where he played rugby and was part of the improv team, then he studied film and communications at Wilfrid Laurier University for two years before transferring to York University to study film production. He graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and began working in the Canadian film and television industry in various roles, mostly as an assistant director.

In 2019, Dawod legally anglicized his first name to make it more easily pronounceable to Westerners.

Career[edit]

Shortly after graduating, Dawod made his debut feature film, Passengers in 2025. The film was self-financed for $5500 CAD and shot on the weekends over the course of a year. The film premiered at Raindance Film Festival in 2026 to mixed reviews.

Following Passengers, Dawod worked at a marketing company while working on screenplays at night and on the weekends. In 2027, he received funding by Telefilm Canada for his coming-of-age film, Summer Forever (2028).
