I, Andy Freeberg, am a science and technology communicator.

I started my career as a public affairs and multimedia specialist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center where I was instrumental in bringing the research and achievements of the space agency’s scientists and engineers to millions via traditional media, social media, and the web. While at NASA I spearheaded media campaigns on numerous topics, from climate change to lunar exploration and formed and led Goddard's first social media team. After leaving NASA to move to the west coast, I joined the PR agency Eastwick Communications, which since became Hotwire PR, working for about a year as an account manager with a number of technology clients in the Bay Area. I then spent about 8 years as a communications staff at SLAC National Accelerator Lab at Stanford University and continue to freelance with them on occasion. I worked from 2019-2021 with the University of Washington, serving as communications director for the Pacific Marine Energy Center and communications manager for the UW Department of Mechanical Engineering. I'm currently the Head of Communications at Zap Energy, a startup developing fusion power technology.

I've long been enthusiastic and energetic about science communications and storytelling, especially digital and visual forms of communications. I earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Science and Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University and a Bachelor’s of Science degree with a double major in Radio/Television/Film and Environmental Science from Northwestern University.
