The Arabic and North African Studies program (ARANAS) is located at Al Akhawayn University in Morocco. It provides a wide array of educational, cultural, and tourism opportunities to students from all over the world, at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels. ARANAS is an intensive Arabic language program offered over the summer. Though most of our students are from American institutions of higher learning, over the last 9 years, more than 501 students from 25 countries have come to the Middle Atlas Mountains in Ifrane, Morocco, to develop their language skills, learn about North Africa, and experience various aspects of Moroccan culture through activities, clubs and field trips to such places as the sand dunes of southern Morocco, the historical medina of Fez and the city of Marrakech. This number is in addition to the dozens of regular exchange students who study Arabic during their time at the university.
