This template is similar to the picture of the day WP:POTD. It returns an image which is automatically updated each day. Shown below is a rendering of this template. The displayed image can be specified as: 1– the current POTD, or 2– a random pick from the POTD archive (75% of the time).

  • The code for this example is,

  • Parameter 400 denotes the maximum width or height, in pixels.
  • Parameter 2 at the end of code denotes a random pick from the archive.
  • To update the image, click ¤ below the image.


Usage:

You can insert the image by adding the code {{User:Bammesk/templates/POTX|s|x}}. The two parameters "s" and "x" are required and must be specified (see example code above). Parameter "s" is the maximum width and height of the image in pixels. Parameter "x" controls the image selection,

x Renders as
1 The current picture of the day POTD.
2 With 25% / 75% probability the displayed image is: either A– the current picture of the day POTD, or B– one that is selected at random from a batch of 30 images in the POTD archive. The selection batch is automatically updated each day.

Occasionally, the local server must be purged in order to update the image. To do so, click on ¤ below the image.

Why this template:

To display archived pictures of the day. To add an interactive feel with the random feature and server cache purge (when "x" is 2).
