Benjamin Fowler[edit]

I am from Lancaster, PA, better known as the land of the Amish.

Inter-Stellar Space Travel Project[edit]

As part of my high school gifted program, we modeled a future situation in which humans had to vacate the planet and head to another star in order to survive. In doing so, we utilized many different projects, including the Bernal Sphere and Island Three. Interstellar travel and space colonization are fascinating subjects which really should be explored for the betterment of human kind. The ship we designed was powered by upwards of 50 nuclear reactors and utilized ion propulsion and solar sails to theoretically travel for several hundred years.

Aquaculture Development Project[edit]

Atlantic Salmon, which get their distinctive pink color from the krill they eat, are particularly of interest to me [1] Since 2008 I have been working on a project that takes existing technologies and incorporates them into a "Salmon Farm of Tomorrow." The project is designed to be entirely self-sustaining and to take advantage of the water purification abilities of salt marshes.

Genetic Engineering[edit]

I made minor contributions to the experimental use and controversy sections of this page. I discussed the FOXP2 gene and its effects on mice.[2]

Emerald Cockroach Wasp[edit]

For this page I wrote the biomechanics section. It's basically the central portion of my first presentation in VBSC050S.
