Porsche[edit]

2013 Porsche 911

Founding[edit]

Starting merely as a consulting company for vehicle development, Porsche was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche.[1] However, they soon went into production when they received an assignment to build a vehicle for the public. As a result, came the Volkswagen Beetle and the Porsche 64 in 1939. Shortly after, Volkswagon production switched to military vehicles during WWII. After the war, Ferdinand was arrested for war crimes and imprisoned, losing his position on the board of Volkswagon. Yet the Porsche name prevailed by Ferdinand's son, Ferry Porsche.

Ferry Porsche[edit]

His involvement started when he designed his own car after finding no interest in the models available at the time. Then his creativity progressed to the 356, built in Austria in 1947. But then the production was overtaken by the father Porsche company, which focused on adding features such as a steel frame, resulting in the car being road certified in 1948.[2]

Production[edit]

In 1964, Porsche decided to make the most innovative step possible, redesigning the 356. After the 550 spyder gained success and popularity, Porsche decided to create the 911. One which held a rear six-cylinder engine. And father like son, Ferry Porche's son, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche designed the body of the car. And from this point on, various models improved and were created. Leading up to the present state of the vehicles, arguably unsurpassed by any other. An example of these unsurpassed cars is the newly released 911 GT2 RS. A vehicle capable of shattering all previous production car performance. It achieved a historical time of 6:47.25 on the infamous Nürburgring.[3] This goes to show that the technology and innovation of Porsche has never stopped since the founding of the company. It's true pioneers such as Ferdinand Porsche which make the car industry what it is today.
